Lead Paint Information

You may be aware that the home inspection (which is done on resale homes before the closing) will give you detailed information about the home's construction, how it has been maintained, and its current condition.

However, not all issues are covered by a home inspection. Another important issue is lead based paint.

If you're considering buying a home built before 1978, lead based paint may or may not be present. If it is present, it may be the exterior paint, the interior paint, or both.

Homeowners are required to disclose the presence of lead based paint if they have any knowledge of it, and there is a special test which may be done for its presence.

We provide a booklet on Lead Based Paint for our buyers. This booklet is specially prepared by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and contains all the information you need.
