Broomfield, ColoradoThe city of Broomfield is located on the northwest edge of the Metro Denver area. Broomfield is northwest of Denver, Westminster, Northglenn, and Thornton, and southeast of Boulder. Broomfield is adjacent to the Boulder Turnpike for convenient travel northwest to Louisville and Boulder or southeast to Metro Denver. Broomfield was originally farmland. By the early 1900's a small town had grown up around the railroad spur at what is now 120th and Wadsworth. Broomfield began as a planned community in 1955, and the city was incorporated in 1961. A constitutional amendment creating the City and County of Broomfield took effect in 2001, establishing Colorado's newest county. The current population of Broomfield is approximately 43,000.
